Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I was already in my office wherein my window faces New York City and its beautiful skyline. I saw the smoke, not knowing how severe it really was, the radio was turned up and that is when I found out the plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. It was soon after that I heard the second plane crashed into the second tower and unconfirmed reports of something happening at the Pentagon. I spoke to one of my acquaintances a distance away soon after, waking them from their sleep, telling them of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. It was at that time I was told it was a suicide attack, Bin Laden was responsible and to watch out for Anthrax. Everyone in the office was upset, sierns were going on, they closed the courthouse and sent everyone home. I felt helpless, there was nothing that I could do to help at that time and was emotionally upset for those whose lives were taken away, for those who were walking around looking for loved ones and after seeing the first camera footage of the dust, just the thought that all the ashes were those vaporized from the intense heat and impact of the crash and the implusion of the buildings. Our community set up a drop center for items that were needed there, but I still felt helpless that I could not be there to help with my own hands. Watching the untiring efforts of all the volunteers was beyond anyones thoughts, but just to be able to pull someone out alive. This is not a time for hate, but to remember to stay close to your family and friends because this could happen again. The USofA is not protected by its borders of waters any longer. The courage of everyone in this country, our Canadian neighbors who didn't think twice about helping all the stranded airliners, England who acknowledged this tragedy and stood by us and the other countries who sent their sympathies and offer of assistance. WE ARE 'ONE' NATION UNDER GOD - Our beliefs in freedom will outweigh what we are to encounter in order to protect the freemdom that we know and will honor all who died, unknowingly for our freedom. This brutal act has given all of us the strength to go on, the courage to move forward and to accept that the healing process will take time; even if we don't understand why. May all those who perished watch over all of us and guide us to a better life; for they are in the hands of God.
