Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: It was approximately 10.45pm in Melbourne. I was sitting watching the late news and just about to switch the television off when a some breaking news came through. All it said was that a plane had flown into the World trade Centre in New York. All I thought at that time was what a terrible mistake the pilot had made and never in my wildest dreams did I ever believe it would be on purpose. The news switched over to USA today to watch it live. I couldn't believe what i was seeing really. But then out of the corner of the screen i watched in disbelief as another plane flew into the other tower. I will NEVER forget that night. I laid in my bed watching in shock. I called my sister and mother and told them to turn on the news. I sat on the phone with my sister watching and not understanding what was happening. All I could think of was the people stuck above the impact points were doomed. i sat and watched live as people felt they had no other choice but to jump. What kind of choice was that? Then more news, planes into Pentagon, plane crashed in Pensylvania. What was happening, what was going to happen? All I could think about was the people on the flights, what were their thoughts? As I sat and watched people jump to their deaths I cried, as I heard about the plane in Washington i cried, as i heard about the flight that crashed in Pensylvania, I cried. I knew from that point on life as I and we knew it was over. We would no longer live in a peaceful world, there would have to be pay back for what has happened. I have never cried as much as I did that night, for the dead, injured, friends, family and the whole world. I sat up all night and watched the news, the world was now in shock. I went to work the next day as did the rest of Melbourne. All car head lights were on out of respect, people sat in their cars and cried openly. Flags were at half mast, no one smiled, we all just cried and shook our heads. Melbourne could not believe what had happened. How to do you try and comprehend what has happened? I don't think you can. Now, September 14, 3 years on, my heart still breaks everytime I see the vision. I will never forget 9/11 and I hope no one else does. All I can hope is that the younger generation of Australia and the world learn from the mistakes made by our leaders, before and after September 11. I hope they can do a better job that what has been done. I hope this NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN.
