911DA Story: Story
My kids had just left for school and I was just sort of roaming through the house, when suddenly my telephone rang.
It was my sister calling to ask me if I was watching Good Morning America "of course I am,why?"I asked "did you see that plane that flew into that building in New York?" she asked. "What... What are you talking about?" I asked.
At this point I'm getting slightly irritated with her "Patricia "A plane can not just fly into a building" I informed her.At this point she's getting very excited and trying very hard to convince me that this really did happen. While I'm listening to my sister I'm also walking back to the TV set to see exactly what's going on.
Okay,I'm watching.I hear and see the replay for myself.
Yes a plane really did hit one of the Twin Towers,at this point I try to explain to my sister, who's thinking the worst, that this was some sort of error in the air controll towers,I further explain all the various ways that this tragic error could have happened. This conversation lasted for just a few minutes before...Oh my God another plane just struck!...I had no words left,no more theories of maybe this or maybe that, I just froze, telephone in hand,I just stood there speechless, confused.Planes really were flying into buildings, this was so unbelieve that my thoughts just froze. My sister was still talking to me, asking me something,at that point I wasn't listening anymore, I just wanted someone to explain how something like this could be happening.Better yet, what is happening and someone please explain why?
It's been a year to date since this horrific act of violence was commited, and still when I think about that day and what happened my thoughts freeze...Oh I cry,I cry for all the innocent, brilliant, beautiful people that lost their lives,I cry for all the families and friends left behind,I cry for what we as a united country have lost...I cry for what this tragic event has stolen from me...a few minutes of thought...thoughts frozen somewhere in time on September 11,2001
