On further exam, almost everybody was near the radio and tv's. I was shocked into reality as I also saw live coverage on a big screen as the second tower was struck. It's ironic; I was in SAMS when the Challenger exploded. When they mentioned the Pentagon, I thought of my cousin Karen Wagner. (She did not make it out of the fire there.) About 6 pm on 9/11 I went outside in our backyard to feel the green grass with my feet and the skies were silent. As many of you may know, Lincoln, Nebraska is below a major east-west flight way. Back when all planes were prop, Lincoln was considered the half-way mark for fliing across America, anyway, my eyes followed my ears and I noticed 2 F-16's accompaniing a very large jumbo jet. It appeared to be fliing west right in line with Lincoln's mainstreet, "O" street. That was Air Force One. I said a prayer of hope and went back inside my home to be with my family.
