Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: The first thing I remember I remember about September 11, 2001 was being so angry because my phone was ringing off the hook while I was trying to catch up on some well-needed sleep. My anger soon turned to heartache for those that had real disturbances to think about. I turned on the television just before the second tower collapsed. I was crying, shivering, and shaking my head in total disbelief. I called my mom after I pulled myself out of my temporary comotosed state to make sure that our New York relatives were not in harms way. Assured that they were, I tried to make the day as normal as possible for my daughter, who was almost three then. She wouldn't understand any of this. We went out and bought a newspaper though so when the time comes I can answer as many of her questions as possible. Looking back, I think what got me through that day, and the days following, was seeing our country unite even stronger than before and knowing that they may take some lives and ruin some buildings, but what we as Americans have can never be taken from us and that's freedom. Today marks the one year anniversary of this tragic event, and my daughter came home from preschool and recited the Pledge of Alligence for the first time unaided. Just more proof, you can't stop us.
