Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I first found out about the attacks on the World Trade Center at about 10:30 AM. None of the students were supposed to know, but one of the earlier technology classes had been watching the news, so word spread through the school very quickly. I was standing in the lunchline, waiting to buy food, when my friend came up to me. he said "Terrorists just flew planes into the two towers. They're gone!" I didn't believe him, partly because it was so unconcievable to me (two of the largest buildings in the world gone?) and partly because he had a smile on his face as he was telling me. Of course, he always smiled. I went to my lunch table and toild all my friends "Hey, someone told me this crazy story about the WTC being destroyed. Can you believe it?" They looked at me in disbelief and then said, "It's true." I was shocked! It took a while to sink in, I didn't know how anyone could knowingly kill so many people. My next thought was for my family in NYC. I wondered if they were ok. I later found out that my mom had ben talking to my aunt when the second plane hit. She could see it out of her window. Although many people were killed, I have also heard many stories of people who were saved. A friend of our family's sister worked in the Pentagon. She missed her subway so arrived late. If she hadn't been running two minutes late, she would have been there during the attacks. Another family I know was almost on one of the Boston flights that crashed. Their 2 year old daughter was sick, so they backed out at the last minute. Out of all the horror and all the pain that this nation has been going through, still good things have come of it. The citizens of the US are more united than ever before. I dont think that there has been such a response since WWII.
