Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: My son,daughter-in-law and 9 month old grandaughter and myself were on our way home after spending 5 relaxing days in Cape May, NJ. We stayed overnight at my daughter-in-laws sister's house which was located right outside of Philadelphia. We were loading the car at 8:30 AM, Sept. 11, when I was having a cup of coffee, watching the Today show, when it came on with the report of the first plane hitting the WTC. My, son, who had worked in Manhattan, was surprised,but continued loading the car. Then the picture & announcement of the 2nd plane, at which time Mike said, This is no accident, we're being attacked. As we watched in horror, news of the Pentagon attack, & subsequent airplane going down in Shanksville,PA, at which time I said let's get out of here, we're too close to Philadelphia, which could be the next target. We started home, going on the northeast ext.of the PA turnpike. We watched as we saw numerous State Police cars at all toll booths, plus National Guard & Reserve trucks heading down the Turnpike towards, Philadelphia, NYC & Washington. Five hours later we arrived home in rural PA, on my farm. What this did was bring back memories,I had buried many years earlier, that being when we were attacked by Japan at Pear Harbor. I was only 5 or 6 at the time, but it's something you never forget as I'm sure so will Sept. 11th be also.
