911DA Story: Story

I was sitting at my desk in the tallest building in Salina, Kansas when a co-worker called and told me what had happened.

I told several other staff and we all went to the Internet to get as much information on the situation as possible.

Several of us had our radios tuned in for the latest news breaks.

I remember hearing that the Sears Tower and other office building in Chicago were evacuating to safety reasons. I have a sister that works downtown Chicago. Worried for her safety, I called my mom and asked if she had heard anything from my sister Donna. Mom didn't know what was going on, I told her what had happened and to turn on her television.

Finally after about 1 hour my mom heard from my sister Donna and she was on her way home.

I was so sad to think about all of the families that lose someone very close to them. And thinking that this is happening way to close to home for me.

God Bless the families that lost a loved one, the firefighters, policemen and women and all of they other emergency workers. But most of all God Bless America!
