911DA Story: Story
My husband was telecommunting that day. It was in the morning after breakfast. The table was cleared and he was working at his computer. I was reading the newspaper and watching the news. The newscasters came on to say that an airplane had just flown into one of the Trade Center Twin Towers. My husband stopped working at the computer to look up. Then another one flew into the other tower. It was surrealistic. Like watching a movie. Then we heard a loud BOOM.
The newscasters came on to say that an airplane flew into the Pentagon. All day we watched the news, disbelieving what was happening. Eventually the smoke from the Pentagon was over our house. We listened and watched as helicopters flew from the Pentagon to the hospital. We watched on TV as people 3 miles from our home ran down the road to get away from the fire. It was one the longest days of my life.
